Hydroxide : Water Spin – Coasterball CTR

WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY! Yes i did spell breed wrong? And tbh its not the funniest thing in the world is it? Hydroxide is my first Night coaster, it is a coasterball put on a extended track, something totally unique it’ll fire you forwards backwards and flip you 360 degrees in numerious occasios. Its a dizzing experience

In this video, I show you the exothermic reaction of aluminum foil in a sodium hydroxide solution. Hydrogen gas and an Na/Al compound are produced. This reaction deals with corrosive materials and gives off corrosive sodium hydroxide solution steam and the reaction mixture stays very hot for several minutes.

  14. AlexSHavok says:

    looks like the same stuff in Works Bombs, fun to make, even more fun to watch it the gas make a bottle burst…extremely loud

  15. Mishie715 says:

    @HazMatLabz ok thank you. i was just curious in how you would get rid of things like that

  16. RadioTrefoil says:

    Don’t do it with al powder. It’s so intense thet it throws the reactants everywhere.

  17. HazMatLabz says:

    @Mishie715 What I would suggest is wait till everything cools, wear gloves, filter out the solids, throw those out, dump the solution in sink with lots of water or in toilet. If the solution is extremely dark, don’t put in sink, and if any cleaners have been recently used, avoid doing either.

  18. Mishie715 says:

    where would you dispose that? just dump it into the ground?

  19. DarkVortex97 says:

    Oh yeah look at that sucker go.
    *Said as if bored*

    are u from Canada?

  22. HazMatLabz says:

    @EugenKaalikas it is NaOH, why the heck does everyone care so much that I used draino?

  23. EugenKaalikas says:

    same works with NaOH + Al.
    NaOH is sold in every grocery.

  24. Tumlock says:

    using pure lye crystals works twice as fast and you can get a big jar of it at ACE for 6.99!!!

  25. Account13111 says:

    @leiposuctie We call it aluminum here in the U.S.

  26. HazMatLabz says:

    @DJFamou5 because it’s Draino, not 100% NaOH. You can filter it out easily.

  27. DJFamou5 says:

    Why is your Sodiumhydroxide blue, like coppersulfate?

  28. DJFamou5 says:

    @KILLERThreeSixNine HAHAHAHA good story….

  29. HazMatLabz says:

    @bowlofarthritus interesting.

  30. wuzongye says:

    did it before, i exploded the hydrogen gas with fire, that is so horrible

  31. bowlofarthritus says:

    after watching the aluminum foil bit, I decided to try the extra mile and bring home a piece of aluminum thats 1/8th inch thick and threw it into the mix. It was the same reaction, but it barely even disolved. Maybe a little bit at the most. It probably would have completly if I left it alone for a few hours
